Before I say anything, let me begin with this statement:
It’s extremely hard to start your own label. It takes a lot of work, long hours, desire, creativity and above all else the ability to shut off what the outside world is saying and do what you want. I applaud anyone who puts their time and energy into creating something from scratch.
That being said, the UK’s Casette Playa’s new line of “Utube Utopia” shirts make me want to puke. I’ll admit, I don’t like the design and for that I am probably the most biased person in the world to be “reviewing” this line. I don’t like loud colorful prints, I like the simplicity of black, gray and white. I am well aware that people like colors. I even own black shirts that have colors: The Hundreds, Diamond, 3Sixteen. The thing that irks me the most with this line is the price. $500 for a t-shirt is ridiculous. It makes me sad for the fans of this brand. It makes me sad for the fact that this brand has fans that are so loyal to them, but they are willing to exploit them and basically steal money out of their wallets. That sucks, hard.
For that reason I am creating a brand new category on this blog. That category is called “Fuck That”. I will try my best not to tear down other clothing companies because, well, that’s just bad Karma. But I feel this is an appropriate place to say “Fuck That” so, since this is my blog, I will.
